The Summary Tab displays cumulative totals for your Takeoff Items' Results and lets you break down the information in various ways. You can toggle between Takeoff Item View (showing your cumulative takeoff totals for each Takeoff Items' Result(s) in the current Bid) or Typical View (which shows you a snapshot of what is included in a single instance of a Typical), more on this below. Takeoff Items and Takeoff are discussed in the Chapters that follow, we just want to introduce you to the Summary Tab so you know what it looks like.
There seems to be a lot going on here, but once you understand how this screen works and how the information is organized, you should find that it becomes quite easy to get what you need - quickly and accurately - which is the goal of using ConstructConnect Takeoff.
The first time you open the Summary Tab (and any time you or another user changes something that affects the Results such as drawing takeoff or assigning takeoff to a Bid Area), the program warns you that there are no results or that the results are out of date:
Just click the Refresh Results button in the toolbar and the system fetches the most current results.
Summary Information and Filter and Grouping Controls
Notice there are two distinct panels, the Summary Information on the left (that shows your Takeoff Items and their Results), and the Controls and Filters panel on the right divided by a blue vertical bar with the arrow (emphasized in the screen shot above)? That blue bar is the show/hide tool for the Controls and Filters panel. Many users never need to change the layout or content on the default Summary screen - go ahead and click the bar to hide the Controls and Filters panel and maximize the screen real estate available for the Summary Information panel.
To access the hidden controls, just click the left-facing arrow in the blue bar.
There are two main views for the Summary Tab: Takeoff Items View and Typicals View. These, and all Summary Tab functions, are detailed instructions for using the Summary Tab to break out your quantities in Related Articles.
