04.14 Deleting Pages, Plans, and Plan Sets

Last Updated: 2022-06-16 14:43

We do not do this often, but we start this article off with a Warning...

Warning - Deleting Pages, Plans, and Plan Sets can cause permanent data loss in your project!

Deleting a Page (or Pages) from the Plan Organizer removes that Page from every bid in the project. This means everything on that Page, such as takeoff, file attachments, and annotations, is deleted permanently. This does not just affect the bid from which you accessed the Plan Organizer nor does it only affect bids you are working on - someone else may be working on bid in this project that uses a Page you are about to delete, so if in doubt, click Cancel!

If you delete a plan from the Plan Set Editor and that plan was the only plan for a particular Page, the Page is removed from the Project. Again, this means that takeoff, annotation, and other objects stored on this Page, in any Bid within this Project, are deleted, permanently.

If you delete a Plan Set, any Pages created by the plans in this set that have no other revision are deleted, from every bid in this project.

If you are unsure if this Page has been used - Cancel. If you are the only person working on this project, double-check every bid in this project to see if there was anything drawn or saved on the Page. You must open each bid in the project and look at the Page to verify there is nothing you or another user stands to lose before you delete the Page! If you are not the only person working in this project, do not delete any Pages.

Deliberately deleting a Page, Plan, or Plan Set is not the only way that a Page can be deleted/removed.

Sometimes, deleting a Plan or a Page is a non-issue. If you are certain that neither you nor any other user in your Organization has drawn takeoff, annotation, or created any Named Views, Punch Items, etc., on that Page, in any Bid within this Project, removing or deleting the Page should not be an issue. However, it pays to be very cautious when deleting Plans, Pages, and Plan Sets because once they are gone, they are gone for good and cannot be restored.

In the next few articles, we cover the various ways to delete plans and Pages, both intentionally, and not.
