By default, the Conditions and Typical Groups Panes are docked in the left-side Dockbar and the Layers, Overlays, Views, and Punch List Panes are docked in the right-side Dockbar. If you are using more than one monitor, of just one very large monitor, you may want to undock one or more Panes so they are always visible, yet not taking up any space from the Takeoff Window (where you view your plans, takeoff, and annotations).
Each Bid you open creates its own Takeoff Tab, each with its own Dockbars and Panes that can be undocked individually. Undocked Panes open where they were last positioned when you close/reopen the program.
Undocking Panes
First, open the Dockbar where the Pane is docked and pin the Dockbar open by clicking the thumbtack icon (assuming the Dockbar was not pinned open already). You have to pin the Dockbar open to undock any Panes.
Now, grab the label for the Pane you want to undock and drag it outside of the Dockbar (it may take a second or two for the Pane to undock and follow your mouse cursor).
- If you drag the Pane to the opposite side of the Takeoff Tab/Main window, you can dock it in that Dockbar.
- If you drag the Pane outside the main application window, the Pane becomes its own window.
Alternately, just double-click on the Pane's label and the Pane "pops-out" of the application, and from there, you can move it wherever you like. Again, it usually takes a second or two for the Pane to undock.
You can do this with as many of the Panes as you like. You can even dock Panes together in a separate 'floating' window. In the screenshot below, we undocked the Conditions and Layers lists, and docked them together in a separate window.
We recommend undocking the Conditions and Layers Panes if you have the screen space. These to Panes are the ones most estimators use most often while drawing takeoff and keeping them undocked maximizes the size of the Takeoff Window while retaining access to and visibility of the Panes.
You can also undock the Worksheet, Summary, and Takeoff Tabs completely, once two of these Tabs are undocked, the third Tab fills in the rest of the space.
Redocking
To return a Pane to its default location (to "dock" it), double-click its Title Bar.
You can drag and drop it until you see the dock control and then use that control to pick where to re-dock the Pane.
Most Panes and other undocked items are restricted as to where they can be re-docked and the dock control does not permit dropping them in a an unsupported region.

Docking Above or Below Existing Docked Panes
You can dock one Pane below another, keeping both visible. This creates two separate Dockbars.
Drag the undocked Pane toward the Dockbar where you want to dock it - the docking control displays.
Select Position 2 or 4 on the docking control to create a second Dockbar for this Pane.
Redocking takes a second or two and then you should see something like this...
Notice, there are now two Dockbars, each with their own thumbtacks to pin/unpin. You can drag-n-drop other Panes into/out of either of these Dockbars.
Docking Alongside an Existing Pane
You can dock one Pane next to another, keeping both visible. This creates two separate side-by-side Dockbars.
Drag the undocked Pane toward the Dockbar where you want to dock it - the docking control displays.
Select Position 3 or 5 on the docking control to create a second Dockbar for this Pane.
Redocking takes a second or two and then you should see something like this...
Notice, both Dockbars are controlled independently. You can show/hide either or both.
When you drag all Panes out of a Dockbar, that Dockbar is removed, but you can always create another one by following the steps above.
