When using Multi-Condition Takeoff and you select Linears and Count Takeoff Items, you use the Linear Tools to draw takeoff. For a refresher on Linear Takeoff Tools, see Using Linear Takeoff Tools.
In the example below, we show you the tools available and how Multi-Condition Takeoff works when you are using Linears with Counts.
Linears and Counts
When you are using Multi-Condition Takeoff with Linears and Counts, you can use the Polygon or Rectangle Linear Takeoff Tool. Any time your selected Takeoff Items include a Count Takeoff Item, the Elliptical Tool is disabled because there are no corners in ellipses for the program to use to place the Counts.
The blue dot shows where you click and the green arrow indicates dragging the box to the size we need. Release the mouse button to complete the takeoff.
The fasted way to draw four Linears and place one or more Counts in the corners is using the Rectangle Tool, like we did above. Of course, if you need to draw a more complex shape, you use the Polygon Tool (which looks like the bulls-eye).
You can tell by the Takeoff Items' Results that the takeoff is drawn. When using Multi-Condition Takeoff, objects are placed exactly on top of each other - this can make them a little tough to see. You can show-hide the different Takeoff Items' takeoff to make it easier to see the individual takeoff objects (toggle the "Show" indicator to the left of each individual Takeoff Item in the Takeoff Items Pane). See Related Articles if you need a refresher on using Custom and Takeoff Item Layers.
We drew an entire room of takeoff with a single click-n-drag!
