What Image File Types Can I Use With ConstructConnect Takeoff?

Last Updated: 2023-06-05 07:10

Supported File Types

ConstructConnect Takeoff currently supports the following file formats (in order of recommended use):

Image File Type (extension) Additional Information
TIF or TIFF (recommended) Tagged Image File Format - (recommended file format) – plain old image file.
PDF Portable Document Format - because PDFs can be created in nearly limitless ways, some PDF files may need to be converted to another PDF or TIFF outside the product, then added to a Plan Set.
JPG JPGs are most commonly used for photographs. JPGs can be added as file Attachments to a project or as Pages.
CAL CAD image file, relatively small and usually in grey scale format.
DWF Design Web Format - this is an AutoCAD sharable format. (ConstructConnect Takeoff does not support the 3-D version of DWF files.)
DGN, DXF, and DWG CAD plan Files. Compatibility with ConstructConnect Takeoff depends on the actual file. If the file does not load, you can contact the author and request either a PDF or TIFF copy of the image(s).

ConstructConnect Takeoff processes all selected files and converts them to TIFF for use in the software.

Notes

Plans must be no larger than 60in x 60in (approximately 12,000 pixels vertical dimension plus horizontal dimension).

You must "enable color plans" before creating a Plan Set if you want to view color plans - changing this setting has no effect on existing Plan Sets. By default, this option is turned on, the only time it is turned off is if you're upgrading a very old installation (prior to 2019) or you have disabled that setting yourself. Options and User Preferences are covered in User Guide, see Related Articles.

If you experience difficulties with any particular file, please contact the Architect or author of the file to request they provide you with a file in TIFF format, if possible. If you contact Support, please be prepared to provide our Support department with a copy of the file with which you are having difficult. We cannot guarantee compatibility with every file, even of supported file types (meaning, not every TIF, TIFF, PDF, JPG, etc. will work in ConstructConnect Takeoff, or be displayed with the same quality as its native viewer (Adobe Acrobat, for example, sometimes displays PDFs a little more clearly, with higher definition than Takeoff).

How the Program uses image files

  • ConstructConnect Takeoff processes all selected files and converts them to TIF.
  • These TIF files are uploaded to the ConstructConnect.
  • The uploaded files are downloaded to the original computer and to any other user's computer accessing the Project.
  • Each Page is defined by at least one Plan, if all Plans are removed, the Page is removed from the project entirely (a Page cannot be blank).
