05.13.02 Takeoff Items Pane Context Menus

There are two Context Menus (right-click menus) visible in the Takeoff Items Pane, one when you click on a Takeoff Item and a slightly different one when you click on blank space within the Pane.

Context Menu - Right-click occurs on Blank Space

When you click on blank space in the Takeoff Items Pane, you see a Context Menu that provides options for creating a new Takeoff Item, inserting Takeoff Item Templates and Groups, and adjusting grouping.

Option	What it does/How it is used...
Add (new) Takeoff Item	Adds a new Takeoff Item (opens the "New Takeoff Item Wizard" pop-up).
Insert Takeoff Item Template...	Opens the Select Takeoff Item Template dialog box where you can select one or more Templates to create Takeoff Items.
Insert Template Group...	Opens the Select Template Group dialog box where you can select one or more Template Groups to create Takeoff Items.
Save as Takeoff Item Templates(s)	When click on a Takeoff item, or on blank space in the Takeoff Item list, one or more Takeoff Items may be selected (highlighted). Saves the selected Takeoff Item(s) to the Master Takeoff Item Templates list. If a Takeoff Item Template with the same name already exists in the Masters, you are prompted to override it.
Paste	If you have copied a Takeoff Item from another Bid (in this Project or another Project within your Organization), you can Paste it into this Bid's Takeoff Items Pane.
Expand All	Expands all groupings when the Takeoff Items Pane is grouped.
Collapse All	Collapses all groupings when the Takeoff Items Pane is grouped (you would only see the Group headers).
Show Group By	Activates the Group By Control at the top of the Takeoff Items Pane where you can select how you want to Group the Takeoff Items Pane (Tag, Group, Layers).
Clear Group By	Returns the Takeoff Items Pane to an un-grouped view.

Context Menu - Right-click occurs on a Takeoff Item

When you right-click on a Takeoff Item (either a single Takeoff Item or after selecting multiple Takeoff Items), you see a Context Menu that includes the functionality above plus additional Takeoff Item-related options.

Only those options unique to this Context menu are detailed in the grid - all others are explained above.

Option	What it does...
Takeoff Item Properties...	Opens the Takeoff Item Properties dialog box for the selected Takeoff Item - disabled if you have selected more than one Takeoff Item.
Select Objects	Selects all objects on the active Sheet for the selected Takeoff Item(s). Only the active Page is affected, although if you click another Takeoff Window and click "Select Objects" again, the objects in the first Takeoff Window remain selected and the objects in the second Takeoff Window are selected.
Reassign Objects	Works when one or more objects for a single Takeoff Item are selected and you right-click on a Takeoff Item that is the same Type as the selected objects' Takeoff Item (Linear, Area, Count). The selected takeoff object's are changed to be associated with Takeoff Item on which you right-clicked. Reassigning takeoff is a huge time-saver if you copy and paste takeoff from a Page that represents, say, 8' walls to one that represents 10' walls.
Duplicate	Makes exact copies of the existing Takeoff Item(s), although the Color and Number are modified to make the Takeoff Item(s) unique.
Duplicate and Reassign	This is a three-step shortcut. The program duplicates the existing Takeoff Item(s) (new Color/Number, of course) and then... The program selects all takeoff on the current Page in the Active Takeoff Window for each of the original Takeoff Items (one-by-one) and then... The program reassigns the Selected takeoff objects to the new (duplicate) Takeoff Item, then repeats for all other Takeoff Items This happens very quickly, this is a great time-saver, as above, if you have copied takeoff for several Takeoff Items from one page (8') to another page (10') but have not created the 10' Takeoff Items already.
Show Dimensions	Available for Linear and Area Takeoff Items - when selected, displays a small textbox on each segment with that segment's length. We recommend you use this sparingly as the display can get a little busy if you have multiple takeoff objects on top of one another. You can show/hide Layers or Takeoff Item Layers to make the display less cluttered, see Related articles for more information on using Layers.
Set Height/Thickness	Allows you to change the Height (Linear) or Thickness (Area) for a Takeoff Item without having to open the Takeoff Item Properties dialog box. This is very helpful when you use the Duplicate and Duplicate and Reassign function and just need to update the Height in the new Takeoff Item.
Set Layer >	Opens a sub menu where you can change the assigned Layer without having to open the Takeoff Item Properties dialog box.
Set Type >	Opens a sub menu where you can change the assigned Takeoff Item Type without having to open the Takeoff Item Properties dialog box.
