Issue
With the release of new touch-friendly operating systems, such as Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, more and more people are hopping on the "touch" bandwagon. You may be wondering if ConstructConnect Takeoff will work with Touch-enabled devices.
Discussion
Well...this is a bit of a mixed bag.
ConstructConnect Takeoff works with a touch-enabled screen, however your finger is not as pointy as a pen-type stylus (or a mouse cursor) and you cannot perform most activities very efficiently using 'touch'. Most new 'touch' screens use what is called capacitive/resistive technologies (they sense the pressure or electrical charge of your finger) rather than using the signal from an electronic stylus (an 'active digitizer', for you techies) which is vastly more precise.
If your stylus (pen) has a tip that looks like the one on the left (a hard, plastic nib), it will probably work with Windows-based products. These are 'active digitizer' stylii and they work fine with ConstructConnect Takeoff.
However, if your screen/monitor only works with a stylus with a tip like an eraser-like nub (an artificial finger...) like the middle and right example, you will probably need to stick with a mouse when using our products:
You may be able to navigate the program using finger-touch, but many of the tools and functions require far greater precision.
You may have to ask the manufacturer of your Tablet to verify whether they support 'WACOM' type styli or only capacitive models.
