14.02 Filtering The Worksheet Tab

Last Updated: 2022-03-24 14:01

On the Worksheet Tab, you can use Column Header filtering (covered below) and the drag-n-drop grouping control (covered in the next article).

NOTES

Filters persist when you leave the Worksheet Tab, close the Bid, and even when you close the program. Unlick the Summary Tab, clicking the Default View button does not remove/reset Filters. The only way to clear a filter on the Worksheet Tab is to remove it yourself.

You can tell if a column is filtered by the color of the filter control:

  • filter button grey - grey - no filter applied
  • filter button blue - blue - filter applied

See Clearing a Filter, below, for instructions on removing a filter.

Every Takeoff Item Property column (the Columns to the left of the pricing grid), include a filter control (Filter).

  • Using the Column Picker control (Coolumn Picker), add the Takeoff Item Group column to the grid (see Related Articles for details on showing/hiding columns on the Summary Tab, the process is the same on the Worksheet Tab)
  • Click the filter buttoncontrol next to the "Takeoff Item Group" column header
  • Click "Filter by >" to see a list of all available filters

We selected "Walls" so our grid is filtered to show only those Takeoff Results whose Takeoff Item Group is "Walls".

Only Results for Takeoff Items assigned to the Takeoff Item Group of "Walls - Interior" display.

Applying Multiple Filters

You can apply multiple filters to the list to narrow down your focus considerably.

After applying the Takeoff Item Group filter, apply a filter to the "Result" column.

We selected "Surface Area (single side - minus Attachment...)"

You can see how quickly you can whittle down the Worksheet Tab using filters.

Clearing a Filter

Whatever filters you apply are retained, even if you close the Bid, close the program, click the Default View button,  or even remove/hide the column by which you are filtering.

To restore all Results on the Worksheet Tab, you must clear each filter manually.

  • Click the Filter control
  • Click Filter By >
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list (if necessary)
  • Click "Clear"
